Financial Instruments for Green Growth in Viet Nam

To tackle the limitations of its economic growth model, the Government of Viet Nam introduced policies to restructure the economy and reform the growth model with a view to promoting economic efficiency, quality and competitiveness. The National Green Growth Strategy (VGGS) sets an ambitious framework for a shift towards green growth and an inclusive green economy.

The report “Financial Instruments for Green Growth in Viet Nam” explores the status of green growth implementation in Viet Nam with a focus on tax policies, public expenditure, and financial market instruments. Building on research, theoretical analysis, and international experience the authors propose a set of recommendations to reform Viet Nam’s economic growth model 2021-30.

The publication is a result of the cooperation between the National Institute for Finance (NIF) and the Macroeconomic Reforms/Green Growth Programme implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
