Planned revision of the Law on Environmental Protection
Based on the “Review of the implementation of the Law on Environmental Protection 2014”, a proposal for revisions to the Law are currently being undertaken. The 2014 Law on Environmental Protection (LEP), adopted by the National Assembly on 23 June 2014, is no longer consistent or appropriate in practice, which caused difficulties and confusion in its implementation. In order to promote rapid and sustainable development of the economy, the revision of the LEP has been included in the legislative program of the National Assembly. Currently, several departments at MONRE are working to prepare a proposal for the revision of the Law. GIZ contributes to the process through the global IKI project “Air Quality Management and Climate Change”, in particular with regard to the issue of air pollution. The proposal for the revision is supposed to be approved by the Prime Minister either this or next year.
