Vietnamese NGOs sign Memorandum of Understanding with MONRE

As an important milestone in cooperation between the Government and civil society in Vietnam, on 6 March 2019, the Climate Change Working Group (CCWG) and the Vietnam NGO & Climate Change (VNGO&CC) network signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the period 2019-2023 with the Department of Climate Change (DCC) at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE).

Around thirty representatives from the network, the DCC, and other development partners witnessed the signing ceremony. Mr. Pham Van Tan, Deputy Director of the DCC, highlighted the considerable value that NGOs can provide by bringing their on-the-ground implementation expertise to governance processes.

The focus of the cooperation is on contributing to the development of Vietnam´s National Adaptation Plan and the national review and update of the NDC by linking civil society actors to other relevant stakeholders. Moreover, the climate change NGO networks will facilitate the integration of gender equality, social equality, and community needs into an enhanced policy framework at the national level while supporting implementation of the Paris Agreement at the provincial level.
